Rum port

The largest yet least populated of the small isles, Rum is a barely touched wonder of the natural world. Our Small Isles route from Mallaig connects Rum with the mainland as well as Eigg and Canna on either end of its journey.

This is an unattended slipway. Tickets can be purchased on board or at the Mallaig ticket office.

Key information

  • This is a bookable route. We advise you to book and reserve your preferred sailing in advance.
  • If you arrive at the port without a reservation we may still be able to carry you. Please speak to ferry staff.
  • Crossing Time: 2 hours 30 minutes.
  • Five crossings per week – check timetable for exact sailing times.
  • Operates all year round.

Vehicles

  • Please arrive at least 30 minutes before departure
  • All vehicles must be in possession of a valid permit to travel.
  • A crew member will check you in before boarding.
  • If you arrive earlier than the stated check in time please do not join the boarding lanes.
  • If you miss your booked sailing, or the size of your vehicle differs from that declared, you may have to pay an additional fee.
  • We reserve the right to amend your booking appropriately on arrival.
