The MV Finlaggan, Fionnlagan in Gaelic, launched in 2011. She sails from Kennacraig to Port Ellen and Port Askaig on Islay, connecting the mainland with two sides of the wonderous island. MV Finlaggan is named after the important historic settlement on Eilean Mòr in Loch Finlaggan, in the north east corner of Islay – once the centre of the Lordship of the Isles.
The MV Finlaggan is equipped with a multitude of facilities and amenities, all designed to make your journey as comfortable as possible. Marvel at the natural beauty of Scotland’s landscape as it gently drifts past from our ample outdoor seating, take in the awe-inspiring views from the observation lounge, or relax with your four-legged friend in our specially designated pet area.
With a full complement of facilities on board, the MV Finlaggan has everything you could need to get your trip off to a memorable start. An extensive food menu, a well-stocked shop and dedicated spaces to relax and watch the world go by are just some of the exclusive experiences you can explore on board this iconic vessel.
Located to the bow on Deck 5, the Mariners Café offers a truly unique dining experience. Grab a table and watch the landscape change as you enjoy a freshly cooked meal of locally sourced Scottish ingredients – awarded a ‘Taste our Best’ seal of approval from Visit Scotland – while taking in the spectacular views. Pair it with a soft or alcoholic drink from the café to complete your meal in style.
On Deck 4 you’ll find an oasis of calm known as the Coffee Cabin. A place to enjoy a range of hot drinks, specialty coffees and light snacks surrounded by amazing views – the perfect destination for some ‘me time’ while en route to your destination. The Coffee Cabin onboard the MV Finlaggan also boasts a range of locally sourced alcoholic drinks for your enjoyment.
On Deck 4 you’ll find Shop@CalMac, your onboard destination for a range of products to enhance your journey – including exclusive island produce. From traditional treats like sweets and soft drinks to the morning papers and the latest magazines, you can find it all at the shop. Maybe you didn’t have time to visit all of the iconic Islay distilleries on your trip to the island? Don’t worry as we proudly sell a variety of award-winning Single Malt Whiskies onboard the MV Finlaggan.
