Service status by text alerts

Register for service status text alerts by SMS to get the latest information on your route.

Important information

Please note: For the latest service information for your chosen route, please view our service status pages. After subscribing to the route, any new service information for the route will then be sent to your chosen mobile number.

How do service status text alerts work?

Text messages can be sent to your mobile containing the latest service information. CalMac will not charge you for this service, although your normal service provider rates will apply.

Subscriber text (online)

Set up alerts

Follow these simple steps to set this up. To note, by signing up via the website, you can choose a date range of between 1 day and 6 months for each route you subscribe to (the date range is flexible and can be amended at anytime).

  1. Register your mobile number

    Enter the mobile number you would like to receive sms updates through.

  2. Verify your number by entering an activation code

    You will receive a verification code to your mobile. Enter this code to the web page. The verification code will only remain active for 15 minutes from when you receive it. You will need to complete this action each time you access the online manage my text alerts process. 

  3. Select a route and date range

    Select the route you would like to receive sms updates for and the date range required. You can select from 1 day to 6 months. 

  4. Add another route(s) or finish

    Once you have saved a route, you can then add another sms subscription route or select log out. 

  5. Amend or delete your subscription

    If you would like to amend the date range for your chosen route, you can follow the online process and edit your existing subscription(s). If you no longer require the subscription(s), follow the online process and delete your subscription(s) online. 

    Or you can cancel from your mobile device by texting CALMAC STOP to 60030 e.g. "CALMAC STOP 05" for an individual route or "CALMAC STOP" to cancel all subscriptions.

Subscribe through SMS

Set up alerts

An SMS user can sign up for one-time message or 6 month message via SMS. Follow these simple steps to set this up.

  1. Find route code

    Each route has its own text code for service information. 

    Text codes for each route can be found on the timetable pages. Find route codes

  2. Text CALMAC

    To subscribe to live updates for a particular route text the words CALMAC and SUBSCRIBE along with the route code of your choice to 60030 e.g. "CALMAC SUBSCRIBE 05". This will automatically subscribe you to ongoing service information* relating to that route for a six month period

    To set up a one time alert for a particular route text the words CALMAC along with the route code of your choice to 60030 e.g. "CALMAC 05". This will automatically subscribe you to ongoing service information relating to that route for a six month period.

  3. Finish or add another route(s)

    Follow the same process as above to add another route

  4. Cancel your subscription

    Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time by texting CALMAC STOP to 60030 e.g. "CALMAC STOP 05" for an individual route or "CALMAC STOP" to cancel all subscriptions.
